Rotary Yoneyama Memorial Foundation Scholarship – AY 2026
Who May Apply
- International students seeking to pursue undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral studies at Japanese universities
- Non-Japanese citizens and not of Japanese origin
- Applicants under 45 years old with good physical and mental health
- Students intending to enroll in degree programs (non-degree, research, and exchange students are not eligible)
- Applicants with basic Japanese language comprehension (around JLPT N4 level; not strictly required)
- Approximately 15 slots available per year
Benefits
Scholars may enjoy the following benefits:
- Monthly allowance of ¥100,000 for undergraduate students
- Monthly allowance of ¥140,000 for master’s students
- Monthly allowance of ¥140,000 for doctoral students
- Airfare grant of up to ¥250,000
- Scholarship duration of 2 years for both undergraduate and graduate scholars
Qualifications
Applicants must have the following qualifications:
- Must be an international student, not a Japanese resident and not of Japanese descent
- Must be applying to a Japanese university or graduate school with a study duration of at least 2 years
- Must possess good physical and mental health
- Must have basic Japanese comprehension (preferably JLPT N4 level)
- Must be under 45 years of age
- Must not be receiving any other scholarship
- Must first obtain admission to a Japanese university before applying
- Must submit complete documentary requirements, including research plan and recommendation letters
