Who may apply
- Citizens of ADB borrowing member countries eligible for Japanese ODA scholarships (e.g., the Philippines).
- Applicants with a bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of full-time work experience.
- Must be admitted to a master’s program at an ADB-designated institution.
- Not more than 35 years old at the time of application (age may be waived in exceptional cases).
- Must have excellent academic record, strong English communication skills, and be in good health.
- Must commit to returning and working in their home country for at least 2 years after graduation.
- Not currently living or working outside their home country, nor already enrolled in a graduate program.
- Must not be an ADB employee or relative, nor staff of participating institutions.
- Encourages applications from women and individuals with limited financial means.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree with superior academic performance
- At least 2 years of full-time post-graduate professional experience
- Proof of admission to an approved ADB-JSP designated institution
- No more than 35 years old (exceptions allowed)
- Proficient in English (written and oral)
- In good health and willing to return to home country for at least 2 years after completion
- Not an ADB employee, consultant, relative, or affiliated with a participating institution
- Not enrolled in another graduate degree program
