Who May Apply

  • Outstanding students from developing countries with proven financial need and leadership potential.
  • Applicants primarily from: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Egypt, India, Kenya, Kyrgyz Republic, Madagascar, Mozambique, Pakistan, Syria, Tajikistan, Tanzania, and Uganda.
  • Applicants in Canada, France, Portugal, and the USA may be eligible only if they originate from the above core countries.
  • Priority is given to candidates under 30 years old who demonstrate academic excellence, professional experience, and community service.

Benefits

Scholars may enjoy the following benefits:

  • 50% non-repayable grant and 50% repayable loan hybrid model for equitable financial support.
  • Full tuition coverage for Master’s programs; partial coverage for PhD (first two years of study).
  • Monthly living and subsistence stipend.
  • Comprehensive health and medical insurance.
  • Accommodation and living assistance.
  • Full financial support during the course period for Master’s students; initial two years for PhD scholars.
  • Continued eligibility based on sustained academic merit and demonstrated need.

Qualifications

Applicants must have the following qualifications:

  • Must hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Must show exceptional academic performance and leadership qualities.
  • Must clearly demonstrate legitimate financial need and submit a plan for full study financing.
  • Must have gained admission or be in the process of securing admission to a recognized postgraduate institution.
  • Must apply for the first year of the intended program (short-term and part-time courses not eligible).
  • Must submit the following documents:
    • Completed official AKF application form.
    • Photocopy of passport (bio-data pages).
    • Bachelor’s degree certificate and full academic transcripts.
    • Proof of admission to the chosen institution.
    • Detailed statement of financial need.
    • Updated Curriculum Vitae.
    • Two or more recommendation letters.
    • Proof of current residence.
