Saint John Paul II Scholarships
Who May Apply
- Priests, seminarians, religious sisters, and laypersons from developing nations, including the Philippines
- Applicants must be formally endorsed by their local Ordinary or Major Superior to the Apostolic Nunciature
- Applicants must be accepted for study at a Pontifical University in Rome
- As of the 20th anniversary, over 2,017 scholars have benefited from the program
Benefits
Scholars may enjoy the following benefits:
- Maximum scholarship of €8,000 per academic year
- Coverage includes tuition and room and board only
- Study at Pontifical Universities in Rome
- Endorsement and support from the Holy See and The Papal Foundation
Qualifications
Applicants must have the following qualifications:
- Must be a priest, seminarian, religious sister, or layperson from a developing country
- Must be formally proposed by their local Ordinary or Major Superior
- Must be endorsed by the Apostolic Nunciature in the applicant’s home country
- Must intend to study at a Pontifical University in Rome and return to serve in their diocese or congregation
