PhilSA AD ASTRA Scholarships Program (AY 2025–2026)

Who may apply

  • Filipino students who have completed a Bachelor’s degree and intend to pursue Master’s or Doctoral studies in fields related to Space Science, Technology, and Applications (SSTA)
  • Students aiming to pursue research, full/partial graduate programs, or sandwich programs locally or internationally
  • Applicants interested in areas such as remote sensing, spacecraft systems, space law, policy, economics, and multidisciplinary space studies
  • Scholars who meet age and moral qualifications, with no pending administrative/criminal cases or unresolved scholarship obligations

Benefits

Scholars may enjoy the following benefits:

  • Tuition and other school fees (actual cost)
  • Monthly stipend:

    • Master’s (Local): ₱27,500 | Doctorate (Local): ₱36,000
    • Foreign: Based on actual cost of living (includes health insurance)
  • Book Allowance: ₱22,000/year
  • Technological Support:

    • Laptop: Up to ₱50,000 (one-time)
    • Internet Allowance: ₱1,000/month
  • Round-trip transportation (actual reimbursable cost at start and end of scholarship)
  • Pre-departure allowance (for international scholars; actual reimbursable)
  • Relocation allowance (subject to approval)
  • Disability support (subject to approval)
  • Extra academic activities (e.g., professional memberships, study visits, conferences)
  • Thesis/Dissertation/Internship Allowance:

    • ₱66,000 (Master’s) | ₱110,000 (Doctorate)
  • Research Grant (if needed and approved):

    • Up to ₱125,400 (Master’s) | ₱278,300 (Doctorate)
  • Research Dissemination Grant (for publication/conference):

    • ₱82,500 (Master’s) | ₱165,000 (Doctorate)
  • Mentor’s Fee: ₱39,600 (Master’s) | ₱79,200 (Doctorate)
  • Mentoring & Support Programs: Orientation, relocation support, networking
  • Membership in PhilSA Scholars Group

Qualifications

Applicants must have the following qualifications:

  • Must be a Filipino citizen
  • Must be in good health and of good moral character (with two character references)
  • Must not be more than:

    • 45 years old for Master’s/Doctorate applicants
    • 50 years old for sandwich program applicants
  • Must have a relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
  • Must not have any pending administrative or criminal case
  • Must not have an unresolved return service obligation unless clearance is secured
  • Must have a proposed research/thesis plan aligned with PhilSA’s Key Development Areas
  • For local scholarships: Must pass admission to any CHED-recognized HEI
  • For government employees: Must pass internal agency scholarship process
  • Must have been accepted to the host institution (local or foreign)

 

Scholarship applications are accepted year-round, with deadlines as follows:

  • Foreign Graduate Scholarships:

    • August–December intake: March 30
    • January–July intake: August 30
  • Local Graduate Scholarships:

    • 1st Semester intake: June 15
    • 2nd Semester intake: October 15
  • Sandwich Program: March 30
