Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP/GKS) – Graduate Programs
Who May Apply
- International students applying for graduate (Master’s or PhD) programs at Seoul National University
- Applicants who wish to pursue higher education in Korea under a government-funded scholarship
Benefits
Scholars may enjoy the following benefits:
- Full tuition coverage for the entire duration of study (4 semesters for Master’s, 6 semesters for PhD)
- Monthly allowance of KRW 1,308,330 covering living and study expenses (including textbooks, insurance, and research-related costs)
- Round-trip economy airfare to and from Korea
- One-year Korean language training (mandatory prior to degree program)
- Medical insurance coverage throughout the study period
- Additional subsidies such as research funds, thesis printing fees, and settlement/return allowances
Qualifications
Applicants must have the following qualifications:
- Must be an international student (non-Korean citizen) applying for SNU graduate programs
- Must meet SNU’s academic admission requirements for the chosen program
- Must be physically and mentally healthy to study in Korea
- Must be willing to undergo one-year Korean language training and achieve at least TOPIK Level 3 before starting the degree program
- Must apply through one of the following channels:
- University Recommendation Track: Submit application directly to Seoul National University Office of Admission; selection by NIIED
- Embassy Recommendation Track: Submit application to the Korean Embassy in the applicant’s home country; selection by NIIED
