DOST-CBPSME Scholarship Program

Offered by: Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI), in partnership with the National Consortium in Graduate Science and Mathematics Education (NCGSME)
Application Period: Application deadlines vary depending on the university. The previous application period was for AY 2024–2025. There is currently no announced period for the next cycle—please check back for updates.

Who May Apply

  • Natural-born Filipino citizens pursuing graduate degrees (Master’s or Doctorate) in science and mathematics education
  • Must be 50 years old or younger at the time of application
  • For Doctorate applicants: at least 2 years of teaching experience in science or mathematics
  • For Master’s applicants: at least 1 year of teaching experience, or graduated with honors, or a former DOST scholar
  • Applicants must be admitted into a DOST-NCGSME member university
  • Employed applicants must secure permit to study and meet specific requirements (varies for DepEd and non-DepEd employees)
  • Must not currently be a recipient of any other scholarship
  • Must be willing to enter into a service agreement upon acceptance
  • Applicants may apply for full-time or part-time study depending on university and employment status

Benefits

Scholars may enjoy the following benefits:

  • Master’s Degree Students:

    • Full tuition and other school fees (actual amount)
    • ₱30,000 monthly stipend
    • ₱20,000 annual learning materials/connectivity allowance
    • Economy-class roundtrip transportation per academic year (for scholars studying outside home province)
    • Group accident and health insurance
    • ₱60,000 thesis allowance
    • ₱114,000 research grant
    • ₱75,000 dissemination grant
    • ₱36,000 mentor’s fee 
  • Doctoral Degree Students:

    • Full tuition and other school fees (actual amount)
    • ₱38,000 monthly stipend
    • ₱20,000 annual learning materials/connectivity allowance
    • Economy-class roundtrip transportation per academic year (for scholars studying outside home province)
    • Group accident and health insurance
    • ₱100,000 dissertation allowance
    • ₱253,000 research grant
    • ₱150,000 dissemination grant
    • ₱72,000 mentor’s fee

Qualifications

Applicants must have the following qualifications:

  • Must be a natural-born Filipino citizen
  • Must be 50 years old or younger at the time of application
  • Must be in good health and of good moral character
  • Must be admitted to a DOST-NCGSME member university for an eligible graduate program
  • Must have relevant teaching experience (1–2 years minimum depending on program level)
  • Employed applicants must secure proper endorsements and permit to study
  • Must not be receiving any other scholarship
  • Must be willing to fulfill the service obligation under the scholarship agreement

Application example for AY 2024–2025:

  • Ateneo de Manila University: June 15 (1st Sem), Nov. 21 (2nd Sem), Apr. 30 (3rd Term)
  • University of San Carlos: July 15 (1st Sem), Jan. 15 (2nd Sem)
  • UPOU: July 31 (1st Sem), Nov. 15 (2nd Sem)
  • WVSU: Aug. 15 (1st Sem), Jan. 15 (2nd Sem)
  • Others: Deadlines range from June to September 2024 depending on the HEI
