Swiss Government Excellence Research Fellowship
Who May Apply
- Open to highly qualified early-career researchers from all academic fields, including young medical doctors.
- Intended for applicants who wish to conduct a one-year research project at a Swiss higher education institution or recognized research institute.
- Applicants must have completed a Master’s degree or equivalent by 31 July 2026 (for ETH Zurich: 30 June 2026).
- Applicants must be born after 31 December 1990.
- Applicants must submit a detailed research plan with a timeline specifying key milestones and activities.
- Applicants must have a letter of support from a Swiss academic supervisor, including the supervisor’s short CV.
- If the applicant already resides in Switzerland, their date of entry must not be earlier than 1 August 2025.
- Priority is given to those who have not previously studied or conducted research in Switzerland.

Qualifications
Applicants must have the following qualifications:
- Must be a citizen of an eligible country under the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship program.
- Must have completed a Master’s degree or equivalent by 31 July 2026 (30 June 2026 for ETH Zurich applicants).
- Must be born after 31 December 1990.
- Must present a comprehensive research plan and timeline of activities.
- Must secure a letter of support from a Swiss academic supervisor (with short CV attached).
- If residing in Switzerland, must have entered no earlier than 1 August 2025.
